Christmas Holidays as an expat, a whole new world

Oh how happy we are us expats to fly back to Mother Home for Christmas!

Christmas has definetely a special taste when you leave abroad, but man, it's not holidays like you know it. Today I come back on what I call the Christmas diplomatic tour (Yes, I watched the Crown on Netflix ;) ).

It's here, that time of the year again. You're all excited to go home and you start making plans with everyone, like you have 6months break back home. Everything is possible, yes you'd be able to see everyone, yes it's only a few days, but hey we can do a lot in a few days. And indeed we can, but it's not going to be holidays as you know it.

We flied back to France on the 24th, I was singing in the airport, running to the security point with my Christmas hat, full of energy, ready to see everyone again. And then it happened, the phone buzzing every 10 sec with a "You're baaaaaaack, when can I see you?" and then you start to plan and you want to see EVERYONE. So you use everytime plot of the day, stretching grandmothers' meals, friends night out, afternoon teas, even the morning are for someone. You have to live with a Prime minester agenda, avoiding the deadly question "so you're here for 5 days again, can we do that on that day?"
